A crucial independent documentary photography project -- deserving of your tax deductible contributions. Thank you.

Gary Braasch started his climate science documentary project, World View of Global Warming, in 1999 as an extension of his 25 year career in environmental photography. He was the first photographer and journalist to focus his career on documenting climate change science and effects. This effort, first gaining prominence through an exhibit at AAAS in 2000 in collaboration with NRDC, was recognized for its new contribution of photographs of the actual locations where climate change was showing and where scientists were documenting the changes.

Gary has become a world leader in climate photography, education and publishing.

• He is a recognized and honored leader in his field. Presidential Science Advisor John Holdren calls the work the best example of science art and education and uses the images in his presentations.

• His publications exercise world-wide influence. Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is Changing the World, was praised in Nature, Scientific American, the Ecologist, Vanity Fair, on the floor of the US House of Representatives, and by Al Gore. Vanity Fair ranked the book in the top 50 environmental books. The book was distributed to all members of the Senate and selected House members, with follow up visits, and to influential leaders in environment and politics in 2008-2009. Children's book with Lynne Cherry, How We Know What We Know about Our Changing Climate: Scientists and Kids Explore Global Warming has won 16 major children's literature and science writing awards. Photography from World View of Global Warming has a vast reach, including repeated publication by the United Nations, Time, Newsweek, Life, Scientific American, Discover, Smithsonian, CNN.com, BBC.com and scientific journals such as Nature.

• Exhibits and lectures reach other broad audiences. Recent displays, exhibitions and presentations at the Koshland Science Museum at the National Academy of Sciences, Washington DC, American Association for the Advancement of Science, EPA 40th Anniversary, California Academy of Sciences, Visa pour L'Image in Perpignan France, Aspen Environmental Forum, National Council on Science and the Environment, EcoCities World Summit in San Francisco, American Bar Association, The Explorers Club, New York City --- and hundreds of educational venues ranging from grade school through graduate seminars.
